July 2011: The latest IF is 2.035.

2010: Since a while back Current Genetics offers two routes for publishing. Traditional, free of chrage (except colour figures in print. And Open Access.

June 2009: The latest IF is 2.323, a slight decrease after the increase last year. The citation half life is now more than ten year, ranking Current Genetics a shared #1 in the Genetics category.

June 2008: The latest IF is 2.507, a significant increase to the previous year. It is the highest IF for Current Genetics since 1989.

August 2007: The latest IF is 2.220, another slight decrease. Most cited papers are review articles and technical notes, so we encourage submission of such manuscripts (reviews: please contact the chief officer before submissions).

August 2006: The latest IF is 2.346, a slight decrease from previous year after the IF has increased for three years. Submission numbers are stable and the average quality of submitted manuscripts has clearly increased. The average time span from submission to decision is 22 days for first submissions (faster on justified request) and 5 days for revised manuscripts.

August 2005: Current Genetics, Molecular Genetics and Genomics MGG and Topics in Current Genetics now have the same editorial management and a common policy, remaining clearly distinct publications with their own scope and own websites.

July 2005: Upgrade of the online submission system, now at http://mc.manuscriptcentralcom/currentgenetics

June 2005: Volume 13 of Topics in Current Genetics goes to press

May 2005: The Impact Factor has increased within two years from 1.890 to 2.495

April 2003: Submissions have increased by 30% as compared to 2002

December 24, 2002: Online submission started

November 2002: The Editorial Office and Springer have started test runs and final configuration of Manuscript Central for Current Genetics. Online submission and handling is expected to further reduce handling times (presently 3-6 weeks). Submission through the system will be possible from December 20, 2002.

September 2002: Staff change in the editorial office. Dorothea Hohmann takes over as editorial assistent from Gunilla Öberg. Thanks Gunilla, you have done a great job. 

August 2002: The first volume of Topics in Current Genetics "Yeast Stress Responses" is now in print and will appear during fall.

February 18, 2002: The redesigned website of Current Genetics is published.

February 2002: Current Genetics authors now have a list of review articles in preparation (or already submitted) such that we expect to publish about 20 reviews during 2002.

January 2002: The Current Genetics team is working on the launch of Topics in Current Genetics.
